Welcome to Online Orientation!

We're excited you are joining us as a new UNSW Global student. We have developed this Online Orientation guide to make sure that you can easily complete the steps required to start your studies.

Upcoming Orientation sessions for English Language Courses

Courses:Foundation English Entrance Course (10, 20 weeks), University English Entrance Course (10, 15 weeks), Essential English, Career English & Essential Academic English.

Step 1: Get prepared

Before your classes commence at UNSW Global, you will need to get set up and familiarise yourself with your new learning environment.

Checklist

Check that you have an appropriate device for online learning. Read the Personal Electronic Device guidelines.
Check that you have a stable internet connection. Read the Internet Connection guide.
If you are living in mainland China, you can access the China Student Access Network (CSAN). This is a virtual highway that offers a more reliable, secure and consistent internet connection. Read the CSAN guide to learn how to access this.
Attend the Webinar: Getting set up with Students Services & IT (Zoom) a link will be sent to your personal email one week prior to your Orientation day. The recording will also be available on Moodle for you to watch.
Attend the Webinar: Studying Online & Wellbeing (Zoom) a link will be sent to your personal email account one week prior to your Orientation day. The recording will also be available on Moodle for you to watch.

Step 2: Activate your accounts

As a UNSW Global student, you will need to activate your G-ID (UNSW Global ID) to access UNSW Global platforms.

To activate your accounts, you must complete the ‘IT Starter’ and follow the steps below.

Checklist

Find your G-ID on your Condition of Enrolment letter (CoE) or Letter of Offer or check with your agent.

Step 3: Attend your Orientation session

Your Orientation starts with a self-guided session which must be completed. We have allocated time between 9am - 12pm (AEDT) on the morning of your Orientation day for this activity.

You will then attend a number of live webinars where you will meet your academic team and peers and learn about your program. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. You will receive more information about these sessions by email on the morning of Orientation.

Checklist

Check your personal email account on the morning of Orientation.
Read the Orientation email from UNSW Global which will provide you with all the links you need to complete the below steps. This email will also include information on how to access your course, find your class and timetable. If you have not received the email or have enrolled close to the orientation date, please email Student Services and they will send you this information.
Follow the steps to access 'Student Consultations Course' on Moodle to access your Orientation content (9am - 12pm AEDT).
Attend the compulsory Meet and Greet webinar (1pm - 2pm AEDT). You will receive a link by email on the morning of your Orientation Day at approximately 8am AEDT.
Attend the Under 18 information session (2pm - 3pm AEDT), if you are under 18. You will receive a link by email on the morning of your Orientation day at approximately 8am AEDT.
Attend the compulsory Learning online webinar (3pm - 4pm AEDT). You will receive a link by email on the morning of your Orientation day at approximately 8am AEDT.
In the first week of classes attend the optional Support Session where you can have a virtual chat in the 'Drop in with Student Services and IT' Zoom webinar. You will receive a link in your orientation email.
In the first week of classes attend the optional Activities and Engagement social Zoom webinar, where you have the opportunity to meet other students and make new friends. You will receive a link in your orientation email.

Missed your Orientation session?

Your Orientation session is compulsory but if you have enrolled late then you may miss your Orientation session. You will still need to complete all of the steps above. All Webinars are recorded and available for you to watch. Please contact the Student Services team for more information.

If you enrol within one week of your program start date, you will receive the necessary information to complete your set up and join orientation. Please note if you enrol late, there may be a delay in your account set up. You will be able to access any orientation or course material you might miss. We encourage you to accept your offer and enrol at least two weeks prior to the program start.

Parent information sessions

You will receive a link in your Orientation emails for a Parent Information Session prior to orientation day.
