Why study FEEC?

A pass grade for FEEC automatically qualifies you for entry into the UNSW Foundation Studies Program or Transition Program Online*. You do not need to sit any other English tests.

  • Approximately 85% of students qualify for entry into a Foundation Studies Program

  • You can package your FEEC, Foundation Studies Program and UNSW degree under one visa

Course Content

Prepare for Foundation Studies by developing your skills in:

  • Presentation, discussion and group work
  • Listening to and comprehending real lectures
  • Note taking
  • Reading academic texts and research
  • Academic writing
  • Grammar and punctuation
  • Independent learning

Entry Requirements

Alternative English test results accepted due to COVID-19

The following tests will be accepted for UNSW Global programs until further notice:

  • IELTS Indicator and TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition will have the same entry requirements as those set for IELTS Academic and TOEFL iBT. Scroll down for entry requirements.
  • Duolingo English Test results will be considered on a case-by-case basis for students affected by COVID-19. See entry requirements for Duolingo here.
  • English language Test scores and prior studies in English (including High School) will be accepted for tests completed no more than:
    • Three years before the intended start date in Foundation Studies or Diploma Program
    • Two years before the intended start date in an Academic English Program

Need additional English support?

UNSW Foundation Studies Extended Program students or those who need additional support can study Essential Academic English course prior to starting their program, if required. This course is a 10-week course designed to equip students with the English skills needed for our Foundation Studies Program. Eligible students will be eligible for a pathway that includes Essential Academic English, FEEC and Foundation Studies Program.

Fees

2021 tuition fees: AUD$565 per week

Note:

The tuition fee that you will pay depends on the calendar year in which you undertake your study in the course. Fees are reviewed annually and may exceed the indicative figures listed, so it’s important to remember that indicative tuition fees shown above are not guaranteed. Any update to fees is effective from the start of each calendar year. The indicative fees listed here are for tuition only – other fees and charges are not included. You can view non-tuition fees here.

Commonwealth financial support is not available for non-award programs including UNSW Foundation Studies program and Academic English Programs.

* Students can choose to study FEEC Online, our 10-week English Program taught fully online. This program is delivered by UNSW Global teachers on the OpenLearning platform, where you will be interacting with peers and studying collaboratively. This program is not subject to Australian education regulatory framework. International students studying these programs are not eligible for Australian student visas. International students can apply for an Australian student visa once they progress to their next qualification onshore in Australia. The indicative tuition fee for this online program is AUD $452/week.

Entry requirements

You will be placed in an appropriate class based on a test score under the following conditions:

  1. IELTS, TOEFL and PTE tests must have been taken within 12 months of the enrolment date.
  2. If you have variations in test subscores, you may be assessed individually for placement and may require additional weeks of study.
  3. UNSW Global reserves the right to require you to undertake our placement test to confirm appropriate course placement.
  4. UNSW Global reserves the right to make changes to this course placement guide without notice.
  5. Progression into the next Academic English Program depends on your achievement in course assessments. You may progress more quickly or slowly than the indication in weeks provided in this table.
  6. UNSW Global also accepts Cambridge Advanced English (CAE).
