Where can I get practice material?

When can I have my photo taken?

For Paper Based IELTS

Before test day:

You can have your photo taken at the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm).

If you have already had your photo taken prior to test day, you should arrive on test day at 8.15am.

Please note, you cannot have your photo taken after 2pm on the day before your test.

On test day:

You can have your photo taken on test day at the Paper Based test venue at 223 Anzac Parade, Kensington. You must arrive on test day at 7.45am.

You MUST bring your passport with you; otherwise, you cannot sit for the test.

Please note that you must have your photo taken for each IELTS test that you register for.

 

For Computer Delivered IELTS

All photos registrations are conducted on the day of your test, there is no need to pre-register. Please arrive at the test centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington) by 9.30am on the day of you test and note registrations close at 9.45am.

Is my Speaking test included in my booking?

Yes, it is. For Paper Based tests the exact time of your speaking test will be communicated with you on the morning of your test. For Computer Delivered tests you can choose your own test time when booking from available slots.

What if I need a different time for the Speaking test?

If you need to request a specific time for your Speaking Test due to work commitments or childcare arrangements etc. please email ielts@unswglobal.unsw.edu.au no less than three days before your test.

Can I apply for a test if I live interstate?

Yes. You must be able to arrive at the test centre at the time of your test. You will not be admitted into the test if you are running late.

Can I change my test date?

You may change your test date at any time as long as you provide us with 15 days or more notice from the scheduled test date. For transfer requests made 14-2 days before the test a fee of $85 will apply.

You must select a test date, where available, within the next 3 months from your original booking.

Transfer requests made in the 48 hours before a test will be treated as a cancellation.

You must go to the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm) to submit an IELTS Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form and pay the fee. Please bring your valid passport

Can I cancel my test?

Yes, but please note the following conditions apply.

Cancellations 15 days or more before the Test

If you cancel your IELTS test registration 15 days or more before the test date you will receive a 100% refund.

Cancellations within 14 days of the Test

If you cancel your IELTS test registration within 14 days before the test date you will receive a 75% refund.

Within 48 hours before the Test

If you cancel your IELTS test registration within the 48 hours before the test date you will only receive a 25% refund.

You can lodge your cancellation request via email (from the same email address you registered for the test) or in person at the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm) by completing the IELTS Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form. If you come in person, please bring your valid passport.

What happens if I am too sick to attend the test?

If you are unable to attend the test due to illness, you should complete an IELTS Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form.

It also needs to be completed and stamped by your doctor and be accompanied by an original medical certificate. You have up to five working days after the test date to submit all documentation.

Requests for a refund or transfer will not be accepted after this time. Please bring your passport when you lodge your refund/transfer request.

Can I change my test module (Academic/General Training) after booking?

If places are available, you can change test modules no less than 3 days before your Paper Based test date or 5 days before your Computer Delivered test date.

Please complete an IELTS Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form and return it via email (from the same email address you registered for the test) or in person at the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm).

There is no fee charged for a module transfer on the same test day, provided there are available places in the different module.

How do I change my address?

You can complete the Change of Address Form placed on your desk on test day, or email us at ielts@unswglobal.unsw.edu.au. If you contact us by email, please provide your full name, date of birth and passport number, and be sure to email us from the same email account you used to register for the test.

Where can I put my personal belongings on test day?

You must leave all personal items in the bag room for Paper Based tests or in the locker provided for Computer Delivered tests. This includes electronic devices and mobile phones (switched off), watches, wallets, keys, hats and coats. The bag room will be locked for the duration of the Paper Based test or you will have your own key for Computer Delivered tests. No responsibility will be taken by the centre for the loss of any personal items on test day.

Only your passport and drink in a clear plastic bottle (labels removed) can be taken into the test room. Stationery is provided.

What do I do if I have a new passport since registering for the test?

If you have a new passport since registering for the test, you must present your new passport to an IELTS staff member at the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm) at least 3 days before the test date.

How are the results mailed?

If you choose not to collect your results in person at the allotted collection time (which is normally 13 calendar days after your Paper Based test or 5-7 days after your Computer Delivered test), results are sent by regular mail with Australia Post.

If you wish to have your results sent by Express Post or Registered Post, please hand a prepaid Express Post or Registered Post envelope (available from Australia Post) to the supervisor on test day. Please complete the front with your name and full postal address. We will complete the sender's details.

Alternatively, we can arrange the postage for you. The fee is $25, payable at the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm).

Can I have my Test Report Form (TRF) posted overseas if I leave Australia before the results are released?

If you will not be in Australia when the results are due for release, you can

  1. Bring a prepaid International Express Post or International Registered Post envelope (available from Australia Post) and give it to the supervisor in the morning before your test. Please complete the front with your name and full postal address. We will complete the sender’s details.
  2. We can arrange the postage for you. The fee is $25, payable at the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm).
What if I have not received my TRF (results) in the post or have lost my TRF?

Please complete the Application for the Issue of Additional TRFs form and submit it either in person at the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm) or via email.

Please ensure you notify us about results not received within 3-12 weeks of the release of results.

If you have lost or damaged your TRF, please complete the Application for the Issue of Additional TRFs form. Please note there is a $20 Admin fee for the issue of replacement TRFs. You must go to the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm) to submit the form and pay the fee. Please bring your valid passport.

Can I request that a copy of my TRF is sent to government departments, approved professional organizations, employers or languages schools?

If you complete the appropriate section in your initial online application, we can send up to five free copies to government departments, approved professional organizations, employers or languages schools.

We cannot send copies to relatives, immigration agents or education agents. $20.00 will be charged for each copy requested after the test and you must complete the Application for the Issue of Additional TRFs Form.

If you want your results to be sent to any overseas institutions, you must provide an addressed, pre-paid envelope (per overseas institution) or we can send these to your chosen institution for a $25 postage charge per copy (total of $45 for the additional TRF plus international postage).

A number of institutions are registered to accept electronic TRFs from a Test Centre so you should check if your institution is registered to receive results electronically. There is no charge for this electronic service.

Can I apply for a re-mark?

Yes. You must complete an IELTS Enquiry on Results (EOR) form and lodge it with your bank details via email (from the same email address you registered for the test) or in person at the UNSW Global Test Centre (suite 6a, 159-171 Anzac Parade, Kensington, open Monday to Friday 10.00am-12pm and 1pm-3pm) within six weeks of the test date.

Remarks are generally completed within 3 weeks. The fee is $176 which is refunded if your band score(s) change. Please note that we cannot submit your remark request until the fee is paid. The fee is the same if you request for one, two, three or all four components of the test to be re-marked.
