Inclusion of students with disability at UNSW

If you are living with a health condition, mental health condition or disability that may impact your studies and require additional support, tailored specifically to your needs while you study with us, our team of Student Advisers can help you receive the support you need.

Talk to our team about

  • Arranging an appointment to discuss the support you may require to help you achieve your desired academic goals
  • Providing you with information about the type of supports that may be available to you
  • Helping you through the steps involved in applying for the necessary support and having it approved
  • Discuss the Equitable learning plan (ELP) suitable for you once your additional support has been approved.

If you are a prospective UNSW College student and want to find out more about the specific disability supports that may be available to you please contact us.

Equitable Learning Plan (ELP)

ELP is a plan which is tailored to your individual needs. Support will vary dependent on your individual needs.

Special arrangements can be offered to students in the following areas:

  • In class support
  • Examination and submitting assessments
  • Use of assistive technology
  • Referral to other support services

Your support plan is confidential and only shared with the staff member responsible for offering support or ensuring the plan is implemented by your teachers in class or during your exams.

Your plan does not include your medical diagnosis, it only includes the education adjustments or supports that have been approved for you.

Diploma students requiring an ELP

If you are studying a Diploma Program and want to request an Education Support Plan, you will be required to register with UNSW Equitable Learning Services (ELS).

Once you have been issued with Equitable Learning Plan (ELP) we recommend that you book an appointment with one of our Student Advisers so we can ensure that it is provided to academic and assessment teams for implementation.
