For over 35 years, schools in Australia and around the world have used UNSW Global Assessments to learn more about their students’ needs and recognise academic achievement.

This year we’re excited to unveil a new approach. Specifically designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s educators, we are proud to launch our brand-new Reach Assessments™ and our reimagined ICAS Assessments™.

Why are educational assessments important?

Educational assessments are used to measure a child’s academic ability in a range of areas. As a continuous process, they can help educators tailor their programs to suit their students’ needs.

Educational assessments can identify academically talented students and feed into individualised learning plans that stretch your school’s strongest performers.

In short, educational assessments are valuable tools that maximise the power of teaching and learning in the school context.

Reach or ICAS - which assessment tool is best for your school?

This depends on what you’re hoping to measure. Which of the following statements is most consistent with your current ambitions?

“Our school would like to benchmark student achievement and receive individual reports that will inform teaching and help every student achieve their personal best.”

OR

“Our school, and many of our parents, would like our students to participate in a challenging assessment that will recognise and reward the academic achievements of our strongest performers.”

If you identify with the first statement, Reach Assessments is the best solution. If you think the second statement is applicable to your school’s community, ICAS Assessments is the answer.

So, what do each of these assessment types cover?
